LUCKS | Bridge LDM
Measure structural behaviour under real loads
Measure deformations and structural responses dynamically and compare them over time.
For bridge monitoring, long-term observation, load testing and targeted measurement campaigns.

Understand structural behaviour • Detect changes • Support decisions
Calculations describe the expected behaviour of a structure. Measurements show how a bridge actually behaves under real traffic and environmental conditions.
Bridge LDM measures deformations and structural responses under real loads and compares the current structural behaviour with previous conditions.
This provides a traceable data basis for detecting changes and assessing them technically.
A single measurement captures several aspects of actual structural behaviour..
Deformation
Dynamic deformations are measured without contact at defined measurement points. This makes the response of the structure to real loads directly visible.
Load behaviour
Deformations are considered in relation to the applied load. Repeated load events allow comparable statements about structural behaviour.
Recovery and zero position
After load events, the system records how the structure returns to its initial position. Changes in recovery and in the long-term zero position become visible
Bearing and structural behaviour
Suitable measurement lines make it possible to observe bearing movements, crack fields and spatial changes in the deformation response, for example.
Multiple measurement lines • Non-contact • Under real loads
Bridge LDM measures defined areas of the structure using permanently installed or temporary laser measurement lines. The time-stamped measurement data are analysed jointly and related to each other.
Long-term monitoring
Continuous observation of structural behaviour under ongoing traffic and over extended periods..
Load testing
Targeted measurement of the structural response under defined loads and comparison with the expected behaviour.
Measurement campaign
Time-limited measurement for specific questions relating to the structure.
The change is what matters
A single deformation value initially describes only one condition. For assessing an existing structure, it is particularly relevant whether its behaviour changes under comparable conditions.
Load → deformation → recovery → historical comparison → technical assessment
Bridge LDM compares current measurements with historical reference conditions. This makes reproducible changes in structural behaviour visible over time.
Does the structure behave under comparable loads today as it did in the past?
One minute ago. One hour ago. One day ago. One week ago. One month ago. One year ago.
Bridge LDM adapts to the existing infrastructure
Bridge LDM can be integrated as a stand-alone measurement system or as a measurement component in existing monitoring and SHM systems.
Stand-alone
Measurement lines, data acquisition and analysis as an independent system.
Integration into SHM
Existing data acquisition, server and monitoring technology can continue to be used. Bridge LDM is integrated via defined interfaces..
Flexible analysis
Bridge LDM Analysis runs where it is needed – locally, at the operator, with an integration partner or on suitable server/cloud infrastructure.
Bridge monitoring in practice
Measurement data only become truly useful when changes can be identified quickly and traced clearly.
Bridge LDM Analysis continuously processes the measurement data and provides the results in a web-based monitoring portal

Bridge LDM Analysis
- Load behaviour
- Recovery
- Zero positions
- Bearing movements
- Special load events
- Long-term development and status
The portal shows current results and the historical development of a structure. Anomalies can be traced back to the underlying measurements.
The monitoring portal is one possible way of providing the results. Bridge LDM Analysis can also be integrated into existing monitoring and SHM systems.
Deploy Bridge LDM
Measurement lines + Analysis = Bridge LDM
Every Bridge LDM project combines the required laser measurement lines with Bridge LDM Analysis. The number and position of the measurement lines depend on the structure and the measurement task.

Bridge LDM Analysis is part of every Bridge LDM project. The Bridge CPU is optional and is only required if no suitable data acquisition system is available.
From the measurement task to the system configuration
The number and position of the measurement lines depend on the structure, the measurement objective and the existing infrastructure.
Configuration by Lucks Technologies
On request, we assist with the selection of measurement areas, measurement geometry, mounting requirements, system configuration and parameterisation.
Configuration by integration partners
Experienced engineering offices and integration partners can configure Bridge LDM themselves based on the system specifications and integrate it into existing monitoring and SHM systems.
